As the sun rise from east

Though it puncture no yeast.

Set in the west

Yet it juncture no worst.

Across diffusion as science have proven

Beyond variation as evolution have revolutionaries.

This is the formula formulated far from

Thee and thy, too far from human creation.

Words already flying to shake

Streams and steams,

Yet not started to recite

There’s a mist yet aint approve cold.

Truly it’s no man but true disaster,

Of no deterioration as the sky have witnesses,

Judges confesses.

Designed on a stable stance of

Political voucher and economical culture.

Never strike but strive, never march but match

Never kill but kiss, never hurt but heal.

For this is a true man:

Protection is beyond a rule

But home air.

A man of character,

Deep rooted in the soils of earth,

Deep focused above the sky,

Satellited in the planet mars.

Foot conquered with passion

Via patience.

Heart cemented with love

Via laughter.

Hands concentrated with diamond

Along crystallites.

Face sentenced with happiness

Along no weakness.

Too strong to be diluted by inventions.

Born on top of apartheid, as orphan tagged me along,

Sickness threatened me, emotionally destroyed.

Truly never fell down, stood strong like eucalyptus

Got hard like a rock. Truly born hustler.

Determined to succeed gave belief

Hydrated to true faith. I am true to myself and

In peace hence I am a man of his character.

To dreams and wishes will wake me up.

Like stars in the day milking brightness from the sun.

Waiting for the right time to shine.

Afraid, of the boogyman
i want to be scared again; it is a frightening pain,
it is sane.
With my feet i cannot stumble
my lips dare not mumble.
I have met a new ghost, to which disillusion fails to host;
this time it is not the boogyman!
It is fear:
as it tours my psyche
it tears me apart,
it is fear inside me
sucking my blood, playing 'my heart'. But unlike the heart,
its beating has no rhythym echoing, living,
but its presence is killing.
This fear is of making choices
not of hearing spooky voices,
i fear finding out
what life, could be about; is love like water to sprout?
i may not know.
This is not fear of the unknown,
it the universe's own:
i fear perceptions, i fear membership,
i fear ignorance, i fear knowledge,
i fear religion, i fear cynicism,
i fear emotions, i fear indifference,
i fear for my mind, i fear intelligence.
It is too entrenched in my days to make me sleep at night,
Peace, fully, a right
yet i see wars in my sight.
I'm woken,
shaken, naked
and barren with this sacred,
fear, as it opens, first.
I have grown to be tall
i thought i had seen it all,
but with fear all has never been
and only courage is ever seen.
I wanna be a child a again,
i want to surrender myself to life like mountains do the rain.

I don't want to fear again,
i want to be scared again.
I wanna fear the boogyman again.
Only the boogyman.
The boogyman.

Slampotion: How the show works

The key factor about Slam is that the audience is the judge. They voice their opinion, vocally, by clapping and awarding scores.

Poets are judged for their performance ability as well as their writing ability.

We will use scorecards to award points to the points. At the beginning of the show a time keeper and a score keeper will be chosen. When poets go over time, they are penalised.

The highest and the lowest scores are thrown out. The poets with the lowest score are eliminated.

Themes

Intro Round - Who I am
Each Poet has 1 minute to introduce themselves.

Round 1 - Hidden in a Book
Poets have 2 mins to perform a poem themed "Hidden in a Book".
This is the first elimination round. 5 poets will be eliminated.

Round 2 - Reading Aloud
The poets have 3 mins and 2 poets are eliminated

Final round - Poet's Choice
The three remaining poets have 5 mins to recite a poem of their choice. Out of the three we will pick a winner.

WHAT'S SLAM POETRY?
